ATKIN

From Elvington, and Hull

Henry Hughes Atkin was the son of Edmund and Elizabeth Atkin of Elvington, near York.
He was christened on the 27th May 1838. He married Ann Stephens on the 19th of December 1857 at York.
 
He left Elvington and became a police constable. He travelled around with his job for a while, and eventually settled in Hull. He died in 1878 of TB.

In 1891 Ann was living at 12 Chapman Street, Sutton with Stoneferry.
She is a washerwoman. Also living with her are her sons Robert, James and Thomas. Robert and James were both general labourers
 
Her daughter Eliza and her husband Dyson Heaton and their 9 month old son, John Thomas, were visiting.
She had one lodger.
